Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five is the influential American hip-hopgroup formed in the South Bronx of New York in 1978. It consists of a DJ (Grandmaster Flash) and five rappers (Melle Mel, Kidd Creole, Cowboy, Mr. Ness / Scorpio and Rahiem), use the group of turntablism, break-beat deejaying, is an important force in the development Early hip-hop.
This group became known in early 1980 with a successful first single "Freedom" and later with their magnum opus "The Message" which is often cited as one of the most influential songs in hip-hop. However, in 1983, the relationship between Grandmaster Flash and Melle Mel began to tense up and dissolution of the group. A meeting was held in 1987, they released a new album, which received warm reviews [citation needed]. After that, the sextet is dissolved permanently.
Overall, this group has been active for five years and released two studio albums. In 2007, they became the first rap group to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.
Training and early years (1978-1979)
Before the creation of the Furious Five, Grandmaster Flash to work with "The Brothers" consisting of "Mean Gene" Livingston, Livingston and Claudio Grand Wizard Theodore. They train with Grand Wizard brothers Theodore Livingston at parties and blocks of houses in the Bronx for three years [citation needed].
