Bill Haley

Bill Haley & His Comets was an American rock and rollband which was founded in 1952 and continued until Haley's death in 1981. Band, also known as Bill Haley and the Comets and Bill Haley's Comets (and variations thereof), is the first group of white musicians to bring rock and roll to the attention of white America and the world. From late 1954 to late 1956, the group would place nine singles into the Top 20, one of their number one and number three in the Top Ten.
Conductor Bill Haley was already a countryperformer, after registration of country and western style of "Rocket 88", a rhythm and blues song, he changed musical direction to a new sound that came to be called rock and roll.
Although some members of the Comets became famous, Bill Haley remained the star. With pin curls and matching jacket with checkerboard band dinner and energetic stage performance, many fans consider them as revolutionaries in their time as the Beatles or the Rolling Stones are at their theRolling.
After Haley's death, no fewer than six different groups exist with the name of the comet, all claiming (with varying degrees of authority) as a group formal prosecution, led by Haley. In early 2008, three groups are still actively performed in the United States and internationally.
